Research Project: Best practices in assessing and supporting literacy skills in children who use AAC

27/05/2025

Hello! My name is Maddy and I am an MSc Speech and Language Therapy student at University College London. I am conducting a research project on Speech and Language Therapists’ (SLT) assessment and intervention practices for literacy skills for children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) of any and every form.

We are seeking SLTs with experience working within this area to take part in 2-3 surveys sharing their opinions and experiences. As there is currently a lack of guidance on assessment and intervention practice for literacy and AAC, this project aims to identify what best practice may look like, in order to inform the creation of such guidelines. Ultimately, this will contribute to children who use AAC receiving better support for their literacy skills.

If you would like to take part, please click on the following link to the survey, where you can read the Participant Information Sheet to find out more, before choosing to complete the survey if you wish: https://qualtrics.ucl.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_42RWGUMJULHzXGC

Additionally, if you have any further queries, please feel free to contact me via email: [email protected]
