Research Project: Exploring Parents’ Experiences of Using Electronic AAC with Their Autistic Children

Hi, my name is Freya, and I am an MSc Speech and Language Therapy student at Manchester Metropolitan University. I am conducting a research project focusing on how parents experience using electronic AAC with their autistic children.

Parents and carers play a crucial role in the success of AAC, as they know their child best. However, there is little research on their experiences of using electronic AAC with autistic individuals. This study aims to help speech and language therapists better understand how to support parents and carers in using AAC effectively.

I would love to hear from parents who have insights to share about their journey with AAC—what’s worked well, what challenges you’ve faced, and what support has been most helpful.

If you’re interested in sharing your experiences and contributing to this research, please get in touch!
