Learn the key concepts for creating engineering drawings using Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD software.
Course aim:
Building on the previous 3D Parametric Modelling session, this course will run through creating an engineering drawing from a 3D design. We will also look at how to manage file storage and design changes.
At the end of the session you will be able to create an engineering drawing from a template customised for their organisation.
You will learn:
- Creating a drawing sheet template customised for your organisation
- To produce and dimension and engineering drawing using orthographic projection
- To Create and exploded view and add to the drawing sheet
- Add an isometric view to the drawing sheet
- Identify resources to dimension and label drawings to an appropriate standard
Course includes:
There will be approximately 1 hour of preparation before the live session using online learning resources. The main session will be run using Microsoft Teams with a live activity where delegates will follow and repeat on their local m@pachine.
Suitable for:
This programme has been developed for makers, designers, engineers and others involved in the development of assistive technologies. Little previous experience is required but you need to be competent in using standard computer software. The approached used will be useful for those who have some previous experience using CAD software.
It’s preferred that you have already completed our sessions on 2D CAD and 3D CAD.

Management of Resources
- Aware of legal and policy frameworks in reference to correct and safe use of AAC equipment (e.g. Medical Device Directives, Risk Assessments etc.)
- Knowledge of how to create resources to support the safe use of AAC technology
Special requirements:
The course will use Autodesk Fusion 360 for the live activity. You will need to have a version of Autodesk Fusion 360 installed on your local machine to be able to follow the live examples. You will need to use Microsoft Teams for the live online training. You will need to access online resources and Ace Centre Learning using a web browser.
