I am a trained Primary School teacher. I have since worked within a special school teaching pupils with a range of communication difficulties, including those who have made use of a wide range of AAC, both low and high tech. It quickly became a passion of mine having the seen the difference it made to the lives of those I taught. I embedded AAC within my practice and worked collaboratively with those within my setting as well as other settings. AAC and Literacy is a particular interest of mine. My teaching background has given me a good insight into the everyday implementation of AAC within a classroom context and how to support this in order to meet the communication need of individuals to get their voice heard.
