ACE in the Sunday papers
The work of our centre features in a fascinating article in the Mail On Sunday, 12 December 2010, entitled 'Do we have the right to tell the disabled how to live?'
The article features television presenter Jeff Brazier and his younger brother Spencer, and their very separate lives. Spencer, who was born with cerebral palsy, has a sheltered existence, with daytime TV and computer games replacing an active social life. Jeff married TV celebrity Jade Goody, and overnight he became a full-time father to their sons Bobby, seven, and six-year-old Freddie when Jade died in March 2009, aged 27, from cervical cancer.
The article follows Jeff as he recently tried to encourage Spencer towards a more inclusive life, including how the ACE Centre had a dramatic impact on Spencer's ability to communicate.
